Dark and Light

I am several days late on the April PAD Challenge, I know. But here is my poem for Day 2. http://www.writersdigest.com/whats-new/2013-april-pad-challenge-day-2

Dark and Light

You are my dark; you are my light.

Black and white transcend to grey when I’m with you.

You are my balm; you are my blight.

Dessert ground upon which I stand is ready to crack in two.

You lift my spirits; you bring despair.

Waves do flood this ground untouched, untracked.

You sing so sweet; you whisper curses in your lair.

No remedy can bring offering to this one attacked.

You coo with honey; you snarl and hiss.

And now from this abyss your face I never shall see.

You were my dark; you were my light.

Empty and waiting, stung and numb I deem me to be.
