Saltblood by T.C. Parker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
In what kind of world could you be sent to a prison island where the sun doesn’t shine and there is no possible way to contact the outside world? A world in which your response to the chaos around you may breed contempt from those who watch you on their screens.
Robin is sent to the prison for a few months to live out her sentence. She learns that her supposed short stay may be more permanent than she was told. The island’s natural inhabitants, the decay that hangs in the air, and the demon that is worshipped throws Robin and her fellow prisoners into a fight for their lives.
I loved how T.C. Parkercombined mythological elements with masterful horror storytelling. I read the book quickly because I didn’t want to put it down. All the characters were intriguing. The way she built the suspense had me on the edge of my seat. An excellent read!
